How to Talk About Head Lice

Most anyone can get head lice. They infest people of both genders and all ages, but children in preschool or elementary school and those in their households are most commonly affected. If you find head lice or nits in your child's hair or scalp, it's important to remember that you are not alone–head lice are a common problem.

It's important to talk to a healthcare provider right away about how to treat head lice in order to get appropriate care and to notify others who may come–or have recently come–into contact with the affected individual.
