Telling Other Parents

Head lice is often mistakenly associated with lack of cleanliness, poverty and/or poor parenting. You may not want to talk to other parents about your family's experience with head lice, but it is important to alert them so they can check for signs of an infestation.

Parents can also teach their children to avoid activities that may spread head lice, like sharing hats or brushes, that may help control a head lice outbreak in a community, school or camp.
